A Current EVENT relating to the COld war
In February 2017, North Korea claimed that it had successfully tested a new type of nuclear missile. The missile will use a solid-fuel technology that will probably make it easier for the country to hide its arsenal underground and roll its missiles out for quick launch. The test only went 310 miles, landing harmlessly in the ocean but the estimated real rand of the missile is 700-800 miles. The test missiles high-arc trajectory took it into space for a short amount of time. KCNA (North Korea's news service) stated that the missile was called the Pukguksong-2, which is seemed to be based off of the design of a submarine-launched missile that was tested last year.
This can, and probably has, created some fear in the United States that is similar to the fear during the Cold War. However, the fear of a nuclear war back then was much greater than the fear right now. But there is no way to know if America's fear now might become greater than America's fear during the Cold War.
